I had so much fun working with metal on a daily basis. Cutting out shapes and adding texture to them with a hammer was a great stress reliever. All and all the month of March was a fabulous one. I hope all went well for you also, but if not, I wish you the best April has to offer.

The pieces pictured above were made out of brass, copper and/or tin. All of the metal shapes were cut out, hammered and riveted, except for the keys which were just hammered and letter stamped. Hope these creations inspire you to play with some metal and see what designs you come up with.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lull in blog posts. I did not have Photoshop for a portion of last month which caused me to get behind. Now that I have it again, I am ready to rock and roll! I have a lot of catching up to do so let’s get started.

I am so happy to finally be able to share this piece with you. I have recently fallen in love with a new line of products by http://www.walnuthollow.com  some of which I created this piece with. I used the back side of a Walnut Hollow 8”x8” Wood Panel as a shadowbox and their Clay Embossing Set on the moon. My favorite part about these wood panels is you can manipulate them in so many ways you can’t do with a traditional canvas. This ability inspired my new signature frame in which I screw decorative steel strips into the wood.

This lovely little piece was a labor of love. I cut the heart shape out of metal, then hammered the “h-e-double hockey sticks” out of it! I finished it off with rivets and and a decorative keyhole.

Spring is in the air and everything I have created lately seems to reflect that. It is kind of hard not to be inspired during a season that brings about life and beauty. One of the things that amazes me during this time are the plants which appear to be dead and somehow come back to life.  It reminds me of a quote I once read which said, “Time heals what reason cannot.”

I love the simplicity and truth behind these words. Sometimes we feel the way my garden looks right now…dead. This feeling can be physical, spiritual, mental or emotional and seem as though it is going to last forever. But before you know it a new season of life will begin and with it will come healing and new life.

These earrings were my attempt at representing time and growth. I used copper flowers to depict growth and combined them with gears and clock hands to represent time.

The piece of jewelry I created yesterday was inspired by the beautiful words of Rabindranath Tagore. “I leave no trace of wings in the air, but I am glad I have had my flight.”

All to often I notice myself and those around me get caught up in trying to leave our trace. We want there to be something about us that we are recognized for or will be remembered by. But while trying to find or develop this “something,” we loose track of what’s really important…life.

Life is short. Live in the moment and enjoy your flight to its fullest!

Hello there beautiful people. I apologize for my lack of blog posts this past month. February was fairly uneventful in terms of art or jewelry making or even creativity in general. It was however, action packed with family time and fun adventures. I started the month off at Disneyland with the family, then enjoyed a weekend getaway with my wonderful husband to celebrate our 8 year anniversary and soon after spent time with friends at their lake house. All and all it was a really good month!

I feel like my creative batteries have been super charged and I’m ready to go! I wanted to give this month a fun theme and decided on March being “Metal Madness” month. My goal is to create one metal based project a day, for the next 4 weeks. Today I made a pendant out of brass, copper and pewter. The finished piece is pictured above.
